Crude oil returned to decrease price due to the increase in USD price Source: http://eyesonvietnam.com Last Modified: May 22, 2009 2:18 After reaching the peak in last six recent months, at the end of the session in the morning of May 22, the price of crude oil declined because the price of USD rose compared to other strong currencies. In details, the price of crude oil delivered in July 2009 declined 99 cent (1.6%), closed at 61.05 USD/basket. One day before, the price of crude oil reached 62.04 USD/basket, the highest level since November 10, 2008. The price of oil reached the peak of 147 USD/basket last summer; however, sometimes it dropped to 34 USD/basket in last December and slightly recovered to reach 60 USD/basket. Whereas, the price of petrol slightly increased; in which one gallon (3.8 liters) rose 3 cent, at 2.362 USD. At the end of the session in the morning of May 22, gas price increased points (the 23th consecutive day). On May 21, the price of gas rose by 31.4 cent, equal to 15.3%. However, gas price still declined 1.75 USD, equal to 42.5% compared to the peak of 4.114 USD/gallon on July 17, 2008. |
